Video Transcript:

Good morning, you’re listening to FloorDaily.net, and I’m Kemp Harr. This morning, my guest is Chad Ogden with QFloors software. Chad, how are you?

I’m doing great, thanks for reaching out. Let’s catch up.

Yes, let’s do that. It’s been about a year since we last talked. At that time, you had just held a user conference out in a national park in Utah. This year, you’re celebrating your 25th anniversary. For the listeners’ benefit, most people are familiar with QFloors. When it comes to ERP software, there are three big players: Cyncly with the RFMS offering, Broadlume with the Rollmaster offering, and your software. One big difference between you and your competitors is that you’re actually a third-generation flooring professional.

That’s right. My grandfather was in the flooring business, then my father took over. My brother and I were involved in the business as well. After spending 10 years outside of flooring to gain technical experience, I returned to the industry. Together with my family, we developed software specifically designed for flooring dealers and owners. Now, here we are, 25 years later. Reflecting on those years, our customers, and employees, it’s been incredible. We recently held a celebration, and it brought up some tender feelings. It’s been an awesome journey.

And that’s another difference between QFloors and your competitors. Unlike many tech companies in this industry, you’re still privately held.

Yes, that’s correct. Recently, we’ve seen significant private equity investments in the industry, with many companies being purchased. We’re one of the last large, family-owned, privately held tech companies remaining. It’s something we’re proud of.

Aren't you also a partner with Roomvo?

Yes, we are. Roomvo and QFloors are among the few remaining privately owned large tech companies in this space.

What’s been happening over the past year? I know you’ve been rolling out new products.

We’ve been busy. One new product is Installer View, which allows installers to view their schedules directly on their phones. We’re also re-releasing QOrders, which has been revamped to better serve multifamily housing dealers. This tool lets property managers or project managers enter orders online, which then integrates directly into QFloors. Additionally, our cloud-based platform, QPro, continues to evolve, and we’re close to integrating accounting functionality. We’re not slowing down; we’ve got a lot of exciting developments coming up, including a major product announcement we’ll make during the upcoming trade show season. We’re not ready to share details just yet, but it’s on the horizon.

QPro is your cloud-based software, correct?

Yes. To put it simply, it’s like QuickBooks Online compared to QuickBooks Pro. QFloors is more like QuickBooks Pro, installed on a computer, while QPro is web-based. It’s the same idea.

You recently won an award at Surfaces, the Tom Jennings Award for customer service.

Yes, that was a tremendous honor. We’ve always prioritized customer service. Our support team is a cornerstone of what we offer. Being recognized for this commitment was deeply meaningful, not just for me, but for our entire company. It truly reflects the work of our employees, and we’re incredibly grateful.

I noticed on your website that you’re attending the Mohawk Edge Summit in a couple of weeks and the Shaw Flooring Network meeting in January. You’ve even set up a way for attendees to schedule meetings with you at these events.

That’s right. At these shows, we’re also offering training sessions for QFloors users. For example, Edge dealers, SFN dealers, and even general attendees at Surfaces can attend a training session. These are great opportunities for our customers to learn more about the software.

Looking back over the last 25 years, what are some of the biggest highlights?

We recently had a party to celebrate our anniversary, and it made me think about our first customers. I remember them asking, ‘How long will you be around?’ or ‘Can we trust you’ll still be here in five years?’ Those early customers took a risk by trusting us, and I’m so grateful for their confidence. Many of them are still with us today. I also think about our employees—their names, their faces, and the relationships we’ve built over the years. It’s been a privilege to work with them, our vendor partners, and the entire flooring community. It’s truly been an incredible journey.

What type of dealer is the best fit for QFloors?

One of our strengths is our ability to serve dealers of all sizes. We work with small businesses, mid-sized companies, and some of the largest flooring dealers in the country. I was recently reviewing the top 100 dealers, and we work with several from that list. Some solutions out there only cater to either large or small customers, but we shine in our ability to serve everyone. We also offer features that support multi-family housing, commercial bidding, and residential projects—all within the same platform. That’s something unique to QFloors.

Congratulations on 25 years, Chad. I look forward to seeing you in Denver in a couple of weeks.

Thank you, Kemp. I appreciate it.
